Questioning Life

This is a guest post by Christina where she answers a reader’s question …

“After being laid off for the 3rd time in 3 1/2 years I’m having a hard time staying positive, yet I know it is important because positive energy will attract better experiences. I know I need a change, but I’m worried about how our family will survive. Our family has experienced many financial and emotional setbacks.

I’m now torn between taking a job in the same type of career (sign making/design) to support our family (my husband is experiencing job difficulties as well) because we need the money and moving in the direction of self-employment as an artist (in particular reiki and art together). My parents told me I could never make a living as an artist. My husband is supportive, but I doubt he believes i could really do this. Personally I have struggled with my self worth and belief in myself my whole life.

I ask for guidance, I meditate, I try to use my intuition, but I just don’t seem to get any information. I’ve pulled repetitive cards indicating a move, to working with children, and to self-employment, but I’m still lost. I’ve applied to jobs with the school system and library, but they don’t seem to be interested in me(I have a liberal arts degree, but no teaching experience) I just want to make the world a better place by doing what I love and I wonder if I will ever be able to do that. I also know that I have the power to change my world and make this my experience. Why do I have such a hard time believing in myself? What can I do to change the way I think about life and think about myself to create a more positive outlook? How can I stay focused on the positive aspects of my life without slipping into fear and negative thinking? Thank you for listening, it felt good just to say all that :)”  ~ Questioning Life

Dear Questioning Life,

There’s no doubt that so many changes can create fear and doubt. With every challenging situation, opportunity is also present, and that seems to be what your guides want you to know most right now. They want you to know that there is a mighty force within you that’s ready to come to the surface and play a larger role in your life. It’s important for you to nurture this space within as this source of power is emanating from your core, your solar plexus chakra. Your guides are confirming that you are aware of this source within, and they want you to spend time visualizing the area around your solar plexus chakra (about an inch above your navel) healing and growing more vibrant with every breath. You have tremendous life force available to you to help you through these challenging times. This source will also provide you with the courage to pursue your career as a healing artist. Remember, it’s not all or nothing. Small steps every day will fuel your passion and desire as well as the growth of your confidence.

Questioning Life - Infinity Lotus Chakra ArtYou asked what you can do to change the way you think. Your guides want you to spend time every day doing something creative. They also want to remind you about small steps. You don’t have to spend the entire day, yet surely you can find some time every day to nurture your creativity. You also asked how you can stay focused. One idea that is being presented is to create a vision board, depicting yourself doing the work you love and include positive affirmations to repeat daily (stating the affirmations as if now). You may also benefit from creating a step-by-step plan, including those actions it’s going take to reach your ultimate goal. (Creating the plan is also a step-by-step process that doesn’t need to be completed in one sitting.)

The other bit of news that’s important to share is that your life path is well suited to pursuing any form of creative communication that supports others! Combining Reiki and art is a terrific way to do this!

Using Denise Linn’s Soul Coaching Oracle Cards, I sought further guidance and wanted to share a card reading with you:

What needs healing: Beginnings

To move forward, it’s important to release that which no longer serves you, including thoughts. To begin anew, it’s also important to surround yourself with people who believe in you so much so that you will too. Allow previous cycles in your life to complete so the new one may begin.

How to heal the blockage: Pleasure

Do you ever put off your joy “until?” That sounds like “I’ll be happy when…” We have all fallen victim to this form of thinking. What’s important is that we recognize this and switch our thoughts to something more supportive. Look around you for the little miracles life gives us. Take time to do things that bring you pleasure. Perhaps this links back to the channeled guidance to do something creative every day. What are those things that bring you joy? How can you bring those things to your life right now?

Future outcome: Opening

Look at this new beginning as the Universe responding to your requests to do what you love. There’s immense joy and pleasure awaiting you. Open yourself despite any fears. When you venture forth, doors of opportunity open to you. By creating a vision board and step-by-step plan, you are opening to exactly what you most desire.

Affirmation: “In this new beginning, I am open to finding joy and pleasure, receiving the gifts of the Universe.”

Many blessings to you as you move forward toward your life purpose and fulfillment. Enjoy the process!

    Dear Christina,

Thank you for answering my question. It is nice to be reminded that opportunity exists within the challenges that we face. I appreciate the advice about taking small steps, taking some time every day to experience creativity and making a vision board with positive messages and creating a step-by-step plan.

The cards you pulled do sound like what I need to work on-releasing the old and closing cycles to start anew, and yes, I do need to step back from all the daily things I feel I need to get done and just enjoy life 🙂 Thanks!:)
