How to Rise with Broken Wings

byย Rev. Sheri, founder ofย Angel Messenger

I’ve been wanting to write this piece for a while, but now that I sit down to write, I’m at a loss for words. How can I help others rise when I can’t do it myself? My own wings are still broken.

I keep seeing articles on how the prophesied 144,000 lightworkers are needed, practically begging them to rise. It just adds more pressure for those of us who are unable to rise, for whatever reason. Not that I’m saying that I am one of those prophesied, but I definitely feel the pressure. How can we not feel it?

Even if you avoid Facebook and the news, it’s impossible not to notice the state of things. Yes, there are some changes happening that are good. But, there are also some things that are just unbelievably awful. As a soul who has really tried to spread light, world events can leave me feeling utterly hopeless at times.

I would love to be able to do something more that can make a bigger difference, but I ignored my own health and wellness for too long and am now stuck in my bed (in some kind of pain) way too often. Like I said … Broken Wings.

That made me think, though. A lot of people have broken wings – or halos. ๐Ÿ˜‰ What if all those who are broken found a way to rise? (That would be way more than 144,000 people!)

I know we can’t do it alone, but we are not really alone, are we? I am in a couple of support groups for people who suffer from chronic pain and have seen the difference a little love and support can make.

What if we help each other to rise? What if we do it together?

If you’ve read my recent articles, you know that music has been a useful tool in my healing toolbox. Last winter, I created a playlist called “Phoenix Rising” with the intent that I was going to rise above this invisible illness no matter who or what stood in my way.

It is a powerful playlist, and I use it often when I journey and manifest. However, I have not been able to rise above the illness yet. Maybe it’s not time. I’ve had to accept what is, and you may have to as well.

Now, when I play my Phoenix Rising playlist, I envision all of us rising. I envision lights all over the world, lighting up the darkness like fireflies in the night. I can’t just sit back and do nothing, though I am limited to what I can do.

There are a couple of songs from my personal playlist that I would like to share with you. Maybe they will help you rise, or maybe you will help me to envision all of us rising together because I think the best way to rise with broken wings might just be to rise with others who also have broken wings. If we can embrace each other with love, kindness and compassion, maybe the wind will catch us just right and carry us all a little bit higher.

Remember Who You Are

There are many, many lightworkers here right now, but the biggest challenge many of us face is that we cannot remember who we are. We are looking at ourselves through a haze of darkness, that shadow we are meant to overcome. May these lyrics help you to remember who you are and why you came here …

Sraddha: Keepers of the Flame by Angela Little

(Lyrics / Video / Amazon Music)
This song is the first one listed on my Phoenix Rising playlist. This music has a primal beat that helps me connect with my ancestors, and the lyrics connect to something ancient within me. I personally use the Amazon Alexa to create my playlists, so most of the songs I share can be found on Amazon. (I will share lyrics and videos where available.)

Keeper of the Flame by Miranda Lambert

(Lyrics / Video / Amazon)
This song is #2 on my playlist, and it is very similar in purpose to the previous song. It is a beautiful song by one of my favorite artists, and I connect deeply with every part of the lyrics.

Give Yourself a Break

If there’s one thing I am personally an excellent example of it is what happens when you do not give yourself a break. Remember to embrace who you are … that beautiful, natural essence of the Divine that you hold within you.

Sanctuary

(Lyrics / Video / Amazon)
Performed by Lennon Stella (Maddie), Maisy Stella (Daphne) and Charles Esten (Deacon) on CMT’s Nashville

This song has two meanings for me. I often pray that somehow I will find a way to create a sanctuary for those who are going through things similar to what I’ve been through … those things that you’d never wish to happen to anyone. I wish I could save others from this pain.

Sometimes, though, this song is a prayer from me to God to let me find a place of sanctuary, where I can finally find a place to rest. Singing this song helps me to find peace within; I hope it helps you as well.

Your Best

(Lyrics / Video / Amazon)
Performed by Lennon Stella (Maddie) and Maisy Stella (Daphne) on CMT’s Nashville

Sometimes I think we make things too difficult, and we need to be reminded that everything we need is within us …

“All you gotta do, all you gotta be is your best
Keep spinning with the world, dancing to the beat in your chest”

Be Strong & Remember to Fight

There will be good days, and there will be days that you might not be sure if you have enough left to keep going. But, don’t you ever give up! You are needed here! <3

With exception of the first song, the next three are from a TV show called Nashville. You do not have to be familiar with the show to benefit from the music, though I do enjoy the show myself. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Fight Song by Rachel Platten

(Lyrics / Video / Amazon)

There have been many days when it has felt like I don’t have anything left. Chronic illness will do that, but this song somehow helps me find the little specks of light still floating around inside me. I change the lyrics when I sing though … I don’t feel like I’ve got a lot of fight left in me, but there is a little left.

“And I don’t really care if nobody else believes
‘Cause I’ve still got a little fight left in me”

It Aint Yours to Throw Away

(Video with Lyrics / Amazon)
Duet by Sam Palladio & Clare Bowen on CMT’s Nashville

This is such a beautiful song. Whatever gift it is that we each hold inside ourselves, we came here to use it … not to throw it away. Maybe you don’t yet remember your gift, but that’s okay. Find yourself, and you will find your gift because …

“Destiny won’t be denied”

On My Way

(Lyrics / Video / Amazon)
Performed by Hayden Panettiere on CMT’s Nashville

Remember to give yourself time. Rising doesn’t happen overnight. It can be a long journey … on a “slow ride through hellfire terrain”. (Yes, I changed the lyrics there as I often do to fit them better to my own experiences.) When those darkest days come, remember that every day you don’t allow the darkness to win, you are taking steps closer to the light. Remember to love yourself for all you are … your successes and your failures because they are all a part of your beautiful journey. <3

Don’t Put Dirt on My Grave Just Yet

(Lyrics / Video / Amazon)
Performed by Hayden Panettiere on CMT’s Nashville

This awesome song resonates deeply with me. I’ve certainly been through some really bad garbage these last few years. I’ve had people wish harm to my family over a website update. (Not even joking!) I’ve lost too many loved ones, and many of those that should have loved me the most have instead treated me with major unkindness. This video is my message to those people …

They may want me to drop down six feet under, but I’m not ready to leave this world just yet!

We cannot allow illusion and hatred to win … LOVE and TRUTH are our mission!ย  <3

“I’ll give you something to believe
nothing on me says defeat
no I’m not looking back so you better think fast if you think you can cut me deep”

When You’re Ready to Rise

For those who hear the call and are ready and able to rise now, these songs are a message to you Beloved. When you rise, you will help to stem the tide of darkness. You will raise your own vibration as well as the vibration of your environment.

All those you touch with your authentic soul will be affected; you will help others to rise.

You are needed! You are loved! You are a fighter – a warrior ready to rise!

The Phoenix by Fall Out Boy

(Lyrics / Video / Amazon)

The cover shown for the song on Amazon might be a bit offensive because it shows someone smoking, but I encourage you to look beyond the surface and hear the message. This song is also a good example of how, even though not every single line of a song fits exactly, the overall message can still be a powerful tool.

“Put on your war paint …
So we can take the world back from the heart-attacked
One maniac at a time we will take it back …

Put on your war paint

The war is won
Before it’s begun
Release the doves
Surrender love”

We Weren’t Born to Follow by Bon Jovi

(Lyrics / Video / Amazon)

“This one goes out to the man who mines for miracles …
How will you raise your hand when they call your name? …
We weren’t born to follow
Come on and get up off your knees”

I honestly do believe that the best way for all of us to rise is to do it together. If we can embrace each other with love, kindness and compassion, that alone will create a ripple effect of change. Don’t worry if your wings are broken. You are not the only one, and your wings are still beautiful and Divine!

Shake out your feathers, Dear Ones! You might just find that you can fly! <3

Please feel free to share your thoughts in the comments below. I would love to hear from you. ๐Ÿ™‚

Much Love and Heavenly Blessings,

Rev. Sheri

P.S. I created a playlist for you on YouTube with all ten of these songs, so you can play them all together if you would like. ๐Ÿ˜‰ Here it is … Phoenix Rising Playlist. <3

    Dear Rev. Sheri,

Thank you for sharing your words and encouragement with us. There are indeed many lightworkers on earth at this time and most I have met are struggling because of their sensitivities. Often we are “wounded healers” and through healing our own pain and discomfort, we learn how to be of service in this world. This is no easy assignment and I am certain it isn’t confined to one lifetime either. By just being who we are, we are already bringing love and healing to this world and raising the collective frequency. You have already touched many lives with your light, never underestimate the power and reach of the rays of light you are sending out into the world. Thank you for an inspiring and uplifting site and remember to keep shining ๐Ÿ™‚ Wishing you a blessed festive season.

    Love and light
    Jedi
