How Does a Salt Bath Benefit Your Health?

The Epsom salt provides magnesium sulfate which is absorbed through the skin thereby relieving muscle aches and pains including backaches. It also helps with acne by drying out excess oil on the skin’s surface.

Salt has many benefits such as clearing congested sinuses and nasal passages; relaxing tight muscles; loosening stiff joints; stimulating nerve endings that release endorphins (natural painkillers) into your bloodstream; increasing sweating which can help lower fevers; improving blood circulation and digestion; and detoxifying the body from salt, chlorine, pollutants, metals, chemicals and other toxins.

As salt has a very high mineral content it is great for skin health as salt possesses antibacterial properties that help to fight acne bacteria and remove toxins from the pores. The salt also helps blood flow to the skin’s surface which can aid good nutrition to your skin.

Saltwater soaks have been known to treat infected wounds because salt kills bacteria and fungus on contact by drawing moisture out of their cells. It speeds up wound healing time by helping regenerate tissue faster.

Salt baths are done in order to absorb magnesium through the skin which will relieve pain caused by stress or tension headaches. Treat injuries such as sprains with salt baths which can help reduce pain and swelling.

You should not feel salt when salt is dissolved into your bathwater, if it does then either use less salt or more warm water.

Soak your body for at least half an hour with longer times being better as it allows your body to absorb magnesium through the skin with deeper penetration. Make sure that you dry off completely after bathing salt left on the skin can cause irritation and discomfort.

What about Bath Bombs? Are They Helpful?

A bath bomb, also known as a fizzy bath bomb, is a small round ball containing one or more ingredients such as sodium bicarbonate, citric acid, or salt. The balls are dropped into an already running tub to release the volatile oils and natural moisture which then triggers a chemical reaction that creates bubbles and fragrance. Bath bombs come in a huge variety of mixes so we recommend experimenting and see which ones you like the best.

In Closing

The salt bath is a great way to relax, unwind and enjoy the health benefits of salt.

If you’re feeling stressed out, taking a salt bath soak before bed will promote sleep because it helps regulate your cortisol levels which are responsible for giving us energy when we need it most.

A salt bath also promotes relaxation as well as pain relief because of how relaxing seawater feels on our skin. All this makes salt baths an excellent choice if you want to feel better!
