When Angels Drive: A True Story of Divine Intervention

When Angels Drive
A True Story of Divine Intervention
by Rev. Sheri

The story I’m about to share is so incredible it may sound unbelievable. There were times I honestly wondered if I’d hit my head that night … but I didn’t. What happened was very real — and I’ll let you decide for yourself.
It was a bitter winter night, and I was driving home alone in the middle of a terrifying snowstorm. I had never driven in conditions like that before. I could barely see a few feet ahead of me, and even though I was going only about 30 miles per hour, it felt like I was racing through a blizzard. My eyes hurt from focusing so hard, and fear had a firm grip on me.
If not for the steady stream of oncoming headlights, I think the line of cars behind me would have started to pass — but no one dared.
I was less than two miles from home when my tires suddenly hit a patch of black ice. In an instant, my car started to spin out of control. It felt like a carnival ride from a nightmare. I spun once, twice — at least a full one-and-a-half rotations — before my car slammed to a stop.
When I looked up, I was in the wrong lane. Facing oncoming traffic.
I froze. My hands, my feet — my entire body wouldn’t move. All I could see were the headlights of a car that had thankfully come to a stop directly in front of me.
It was as if time itself had slowed down, even stopped. My mind, on the other hand, was racing. How did I end up like this? Why hadn’t I rolled into the deep ditch full of trees beside the road? And how would I ever get back into my lane?
Then something happened that I still don’t fully understand.
I felt a presence come up behind me. It was like something — or someone — stepped into my body and gently took over. I was aware of it, but I wasn’t in control anymore. And strangely, I wasn’t afraid.
Even though my car had been completely still, it began to move again — this time spinning in the opposite direction. What struck me later is that I hadn’t even touched the gas pedal. I had let go of everything during the initial spin, frozen in fear. And yet, the car moved — purposefully, powerfully, perfectly.
When the car stopped again, I was back in my own lane. Facing the right direction.
And I hadn’t hit a single thing.
Not the trees. Not another car. Nothing. Despite the snow and heavy traffic in both directions, everything and everyone was completely fine. It was as if the whole road had paused to let this moment pass in safety.
I sat there in stunned silence. Then I heard a voice — not outside me, but inside. A calm, clear voice that said:
“You’re okay. Just drive home.”
Still trembling, I looked around. No one was getting out of their vehicles. No horns. No signs of alarm. When I reached for the door handle — thinking maybe I should check on the other drivers — it wouldn’t open. Again, I heard the voice:
“Look around again. They’re all fine.”
I waited another moment, then slowly started driving. The other cars began moving again too, as if nothing had happened.
I cried the rest of the way home. I was shaken, confused … and profoundly grateful.
When I walked in the door, I told my husband what had happened. And it was in telling the story out loud that the truth hit me:
I had been saved.
By my Guardian Angel.
I’ve never watched much NASCAR, but I don’t think there’s a professional driver alive who could have pulled off what I experienced that night. I certainly couldn’t. I’ve never had the skill or reflexes for that kind of maneuvering.
I sometimes wonder if the other drivers saw what happened, or if time itself really did stop.
For a long time, this story felt too big to share. At the time, I hadn’t yet become Rev. Sheri or founded Angel Messenger. This wasn’t my first spiritual experience — but it was the first one since childhood that I couldn’t write off as imagination.
It was real. And it changed me.
This moment reminded me — in the most unforgettable way — that I am never truly alone. That even in the darkest, most disorienting moments, there is Divine help close by. There is someone ready to take the wheel when I cannot.
I now know the name of my Guardian Angel: Zachary.
To my beloved Zachary:
Thank you for keeping me safe, for guiding me long before I ever knew you were there. I would not be alive today without you.
If you’re reading this and wondering whether you, too, have a Guardian Angel — you do. Your angel has only one job: you.
They won’t interfere unless your life is in danger, but they’re always there. And if you ask for help, they will come. You don’t have to worry about taking their time or energy — you are their sacred assignment.
So when you feel lost or overwhelmed, remember this:
You are never truly driving blind.
You are never alone.
