When the World Feels Heavy (And What a Lightworker Can Do With That)

When the World Feels Heavy
(And What a Lightworker Can Do With That)
by Rev. Sheri

There are moments when the world feels like a lot to hold.
The pain.
The conflict.
The uncertainty.
It can feel overwhelming—especially if you are someone who feels deeply.
If you are someone who notices.
Who cares.
Who carries compassion not just for your own life, but for the world around you.
🌿 The Quiet Weight of Being a Lightworker
Being a lightworker is not always peaceful.
Sometimes it means feeling things others move past.
Sometimes it means holding awareness that doesn’t easily turn off.
And sometimes…
it means sitting with the question:
How do I stay open-hearted in a world that hurts?
🌱 Caring for Your Energy (Without Shutting Down)
Before anything else, your energy matters.
Not because you need to disconnect from the world—
but because you are part of it.
Caring for yourself is not avoidance.
It is sustainability.
In the midst of pain and chaos, you might gently return to:
- slow, steady breathing—letting your body soften, even slightly
- quiet moments of meditation or stillness
- stepping away from constant input when it becomes too much
- simple grounding activities like coloring, journaling, sitting outside
or taking a gentle pause with something like the Angel Sanctuary Reset - placing a hand over your heart and reminding yourself: I am here
- returning to simple grounding practices—or supportive tools
created specifically for lightworkers navigating sensitive energy
These are not small things.
They are how you remain present
without becoming overwhelmed.
🕊️ What Touches Your Heart Is Not Random
There is something else that happens, too.
In the midst of everything…
certain things may rise above the rest.
Not everything—but something.
A cause.
A need.
A moment.
Something that lands in your heart and doesn’t leave.
Sometimes it can help to have that reflected back to you—clearly and calmly—
so you can better understand what’s being placed on your heart.
Not urgently… just with steady, grounded clarity.
🌸 A Personal Reflection
There was a day I walked into the Ennis Center for Children
with craft kits to give.
That was what I thought I was there to offer.
But once I was inside, I learned something else—
that the girls there were in need of basic feminine care products.
That moment stayed with me.
Not just because of the need itself,
but because it connected to something in my own life—
a time when I had gone without those same essentials.
It wasn’t just information.
It was a recognition.
A resonance.
My heart knew:
this matters.
And from that moment, something shifted.
What I thought I came to give expanded…
and the Compassion Kits project was born.
🌊 What Is Your Heart Noticing?
You don’t have to respond to everything.
But you may be called to something.
What lingers with you?
What quietly stays in your awareness?
- Does your heart ache for the earth—for water, for nature, for what is being harmed?
- Do you feel pulled toward helping people in your community?
- Are there issues in the world that stir something deeper than frustration—something more like care?
These are not random reactions.
They may be invitations.
🔥 Turning Feeling Into Gentle Action
Action does not have to be loud to be meaningful.
It can be as simple as:
- supporting an organization that aligns with what you care about
- speaking truth in spaces where people are open to hearing it
- voting with intention and awareness
- offering prayer, intention, or symbolic acts of care
Even something as simple as writing a wish and releasing it with intention
—like with Flying Wish Paper—
can become a moment of lifting something upward
Supporting a cause that aligns with what you care about—even in small ways…
You can also support causes already in motion:

🌿 You Are Not Meant to Carry Everything
This is important.
You are not here to fix the entire world.
You are here to respond to what is placed in your heart.
To meet it with care.
With presence.
With love, in whatever form is possible for you.
You don’t have to do this perfectly—and you don’t have to do it alone.
✨ A Different Way to See It
The pain you feel is not weakness.
It is awareness.
It is connection.
And sometimes…
it is guidance.
Not telling you to do everything—
but gently pointing you toward something that matters.
🌸 Closing Reflection
If the world has felt heavy lately,
you are not alone in that.
Take care of your energy.
Let yourself rest when needed.
And then, when something calls to your heart—
even quietly—
you’re allowed to answer it.
Not all at once.
Not perfectly.
Just… steadily.
