Letting Yourself Receive Support

Letting Yourself Receive Support
A Gentle Reflection on Allowing Care In
by Rev. Sheri

There is a quiet place along this path
that is often the most tender.
Not when you begin.
Not when you first start caring or showing up.
But later.
After you’ve opened your heart.
After you’ve responded to what calls you.
After you’ve learned what is yours to carry—
and allowed yourself to rest.
Another invitation may appear.
Softly.
Gently.
The invitation to receive.
🌿 When Giving Feels Easier Than Receiving
For many sensitive souls, giving comes naturally.
You may find it easier to:
offer care
hold space for others
show up with compassion
But when support begins to come toward you…
something different can arise.
A hesitation.
A quiet discomfort.
A feeling of:
I should be the one helping… not the one needing help.
If this feels familiar,
you are not alone.
If you’ve been moving through a season of caring and holding a lot,
you may wish to begin here:

🌱 The Subtle Resistance
Receiving can feel vulnerable.
It may bring up thoughts like:
I don’t want to be a burden
Others need this more than I do
I should be able to handle this on my own
These thoughts often come from a place of strength—
but also from a place that has learned
to carry things quietly.
You may have become so used to being the steady one
that allowing yourself to be supported feels unfamiliar.
If you are still exploring what is yours to hold,
you may wish to reflect here:
👉 What Is Yours to Carry (And What Is Not)
🕊️ You Are Not Meant to Do This Alone
There is a gentle truth here:
Just as you are moved to care for others,
others are able to care for you.
Support is not something you have to earn.
It is part of the natural flow of connection.
Giving and receiving were never meant to be separate.
They are part of the same movement.
🌸 Receiving Is an Act of Trust
To receive is not to take.
It is to allow.
To soften your grip, even slightly,
and let something supportive reach you.
It may be:
a kind word
a moment of understanding
guidance that helps you see more clearly
a resource that supports your path
a simple presence that reminds you you’re not alone
Receiving these things does not diminish your strength.
It honors your humanity.
🌊 Letting It Be Enough
Sometimes, when support arrives,
there can be a quiet urge to minimize it.
“It’s okay.”
“I’m fine.”
“You don’t have to…”
But you may wish to pause in that moment.
And gently ask yourself:
What would it feel like to simply receive this?
Not analyze it.
Not deflect it.
Just… receive.
If you need a gentle way to reconnect with yourself in that moment,
you might take a quiet pause with something like the

🔥 You Are Allowed to Be Supported
There is nothing you need to prove
by doing everything on your own.
You are allowed to be held in care
just as you have held others.
You are allowed to:
ask for support
accept what is offered
seek guidance when you need clarity
This is not stepping out of your role.
It is expanding it.
🌿 A Gentle Opening
If receiving feels difficult,
you do not have to force it.
You can begin small.
You might allow:
one moment of support to land
one kind word to stay with you
one helpful resource to truly support you
You may also wish to explore spaces created for gentle reflection and guidance—
places where you can be both supported and still fully yourself.
There is no urgency in this.
Only a soft opening, at your own pace.
🌸 Closing Reflection
If you’ve been holding a lot on your own,
you may wish to sit with this gently:
Where might I allow a little more support in?
Let the answer be simple.
Let it be kind.
