A compassionate reflection on hardship, dignity, and the strength of compassion
There is something happening across the United States right now that we cannot ignore. Families who have worked hard their whole lives are suddenly struggling in ways they never expected. People who have always managed to get by are now facing impossible choices. And many are carrying fear they’ve never felt before — fear about food, shelter, medical care, and simply making it through another month.
I see it.
I feel it.
And like so many of you, I am living it too.
Our own health insurance is rising $450 a month beginning January 1st.
My husband’s student loans — which were not supposed to accrue interest — have been quietly adding nearly $180 a month to our debt.
Every year, despite working more and giving more, we are making less.
And I have not paid myself in… honestly, I can’t even remember how long.
I’m not sharing this for sympathy.
I’m sharing it because I know we are not the only ones.
If this is happening to us, it is happening to countless families across this country.
And no one should walk that alone.
🌾 This Is Not a Personal Failure — It’s a System Failure
Here is the truth we all need to hear:
Struggling right now does not mean you’ve failed.
It does not mean you “did something wrong.”
It does not mean you’re irresponsible or lazy or less than.
It means the systems we depend on are failing us — and it’s showing everywhere:
-
in grocery prices
-
in healthcare costs
-
in rent and utilities
-
in the lack of basic safety nets
-
in families giving up necessities to survive
-
in the silent fear people carry every day
And that is exactly why I created this guide.
🔥 Compassion Is Not Weakness — It Is Courage
Across the U.S., more and more families are carrying burdens they should never have to face alone. The systems we depend on have weakened, leaving many without food, medical care, or financial stability. This is not a reflection of personal failure — it is a reflection of broken support structures. In times like these, compassion is not weakness; it is courage. It is strength. It is how we hold one another up when the world feels unsteady. I created this guide to offer real, practical help for real people who deserve dignity, safety, and hope.
This is the truth we need to remember:
Compassion is strength.
It is clarity.
It is leadership.
It is light in a time when many people feel lost.
🍞 Why I Created This Guide
I created A Guide to Finding Help & Hope because people need more than inspiration right now. They need:
-
food assistance
-
rent and utility support
-
healthcare and mental health resources
-
crisis lines
-
help for children and families
-
guidance on how to find helpers in their community
-
grounding practices for panic and fear
-
spiritual comfort during overwhelming moments
People need real, practical support AND gentle emotional care — both.
This guide brings those two things together in one place.
It’s easy to navigate.
It’s kind.
It’s shame-free.
It’s completely free.
And it is meant to be shared.
🌸 You Deserve Support — Without Shame
So many people are afraid to ask for help because they fear being judged, dismissed, or looked down on.
But here is the truth:
There is no shame in needing help.
There is only shame in a society that makes people feel unworthy for needing it.
My family has needed help in the past too:
-
We lost our home during the first housing crisis.
-
Loved ones have relied on food assistance.
-
Many have been on Medicaid or Medicare.
-
We have lived the things people fear.
So if you need help, please hear me:
You are not weak.
You are not alone.
And you deserve safety, nourishment, and dignity.
