How to Cope with the Loss of a Loved One

from our Angel Messenger Creative Team

There is nothing harder in life than losing a loved one. Nearly all of us have been there at some point in our lives. The reality is that death is part and parcel of the human experience. Everything in this world is transitory. Life and death are two sides of the same coin.

However, coming to terms with the fact that we are never going to see a loved one in their physical form again in this life is one of the hardest things anyone can ever have to deal with.

There is nothing harder in life than losing a loved one. Nearly all of us have been there at some point of time in our lives. The reality is that death is part and parcel of the human experience. Everything in this world is transitory. Life and death are two sides of the same coin.

However, coming to terms with the fact that we are never going to see a loved one in their physical form again in this life is one of the hardest things anyone can ever have to deal with.

Here are a few tips to help you heal from such an irreparable loss:

Understand that there is No Such Thing as Death

We are not just our bodies but the soul that dwells inside it. The soul is eternal – it is beyond life and death. This body is ours – we acquire it for a brief experience on this dimension. Death is like dropping the clothes that have now worn out and no longer serve our highest good.

You may never again see your loved one in the physical form that you were familiar with but this doesn’t mean they have ceased to exist. Physical death is not the same as annihilation.

Everything in this Universe is energy. Energy can neither be created nor destroyed. All that exists simply changes form. Hence, just because you can’t see your loved one with your physical eyes doesn’t mean that they no longer exist.

At the energetic level, they are always going to be present in this infinite Universe. Hold on to the beautiful memories you have shared with them but let go of your attachment to their physical form.

Why You Should Let Them Go?

We all come into this world with a specific soul purpose. Once that purpose is fulfilled, each soul must move on to the next level of their journey. You might not understand someone else’s soul purpose but you must respect the fact that it might not be the same as yours. Physical death marks the end of someone’s time on earth in a particular body.

The soul has to move on to the next leg of the journey. By incessantly mourning over your loss, you’ll keep holding them back from moving forward.

Love is all about letting go – it’s not about getting what you think you want but about doing what’s best for the soul whom you love so deeply.

Practical Tips for Easing Your Pain

Here are a few practical tips to help ease your pain:

Maintain a Routine

Our daily routine goes for a complete toss when we are grieving the loss of a loved one. Even though it might be extremely hard, I would urge you to maintain a routine for waking up, sleeping, eating, exercising, working, and everything else you must do in between. Try to stick to the routine without getting too stressed out about it.

This will help restore a sense of balance to your body and life. Our bodies love routines and function best when they are made to do the same thing at the same time every day.

Spend Time with the People Who Care About You

Grieving in isolation can be really tough on most individuals. Try to spend time with people whose company you enjoy. At this point, it might be better to surround yourself with people who aren’t themselves grieving the loss of the same person. This way, they will be able to provide you with emotional support at times when you break down.

If you want to be around other people who are also grieving, then make sure that you’re yourself strong enough to provide emotional support to them when they are at their weakest. You cannot pour from an empty cup. Hence, focus on your own healing first.

Don’t be too Hard on Yourself

It takes time to overcome grief. Hence, be gentle with yourself.

Allow yourself to feel all the emotions that come up. Don’t try to suppress them. Suppression will only increase your suffering. Look at emotions as waves in the ocean – they come up and subside on their own if we don’t try too hard to fight them off.

Besides, emotional release is critical for mental wellbeing.

Moving your body is a great way of releasing pent up emotions. Hence, it is advisable to stick to an exercise routine.

Maintain a Healthy Diet

When we are sad and dealing with grief, it is very easy to start eating unhealthy food. You must resist the temptation to fall into this trap because it will make you feel even worse than how you’re already feeling.

Fresh organic food, on the other hand, will help with the healing process. Hence, don’t overlook the importance of maintaining a healthy balanced with high-quality fresh food.

Spend Time in Nature

We are born out of nature and we disintegrate back into it. Spending time in nature is probably the best therapy for all ailments. By being in nature, we are able to connect with our spiritual roots. This rejuvenates and replenishes us on all levels.

Every morning start your day by going for a walk in nature. You can also take up gardening if it appeals to you. There is something about touching the earth with your bare hands that heals you at the deepest level possible.

Write a Letter to Your Loved One Who has Passed On

This is a powerful ritual that will help you release a lot of stagnant emotions. Do this at a time when you can be completely alone without being disturbed. Take a piece of paper and write down everything you want to say to the loved one who is no longer in your life.

Don’t censor yourself or try to be perfect with your grammar. Allow the words to flow freely through you. Once you have finished writing, you will feel a lot lighter. Put it in an envelope and write their name on top of it.

When you’re ready, you’d want to either burn the letter with the envelope or tear it and release the pieces into a flowing water body. If you want to do the latter, then going to a river to complete the ritual would be ideal. If not, then, you can also send it down the flush.

I can promise you that you will feel significantly lighter after going through this ritual. You can do this as many times as you want. Just remember that releasing your feelings is just as important as expressing it on paper. Hence, you must either burn the letter or immerse the shredded pieces in water.

The death of a loved one is an irreparable loss but you must remember that physical death is only an illusion. The soul is eternal – it never ceases to exist. Your loved one is still present in this Universe.  There’s nothing they want more than to see you happy in your life. Hence, you must focus on your own happiness and healing above anything else.

Much Love & Angel Blessings,
