Bridge of Light Guidance: How Do I Let Myself Receive Help?

Bridge of Light Guidance:
How Do I Let Myself Receive Help?
by Rev. Sheri Spiritual teacher, writer, and founder of Angel Messenger
Some of us find it easier to notice what others need than to say what we need ourselves. We are the ones who check in, make a plan, offer a ride, or find the right words when someone is hurting.
Then a difficult season comes, and someone says, “How can I help?” We may answer, “I’m okay,” even when we are not.
This week’s Bridge of Light question is one many of us carry:
How do I let myself receive help when I’m used to being the one others lean on?
Gentle Guidance
If accepting help feels uncomfortable, begin with curiosity rather than judgment. What happens inside you when someone offers? Perhaps you worry about becoming a burden. Perhaps you have asked before and been disappointed. Perhaps you are so used to being capable that you no longer know how to put your needs into words.
Those feelings deserve care. You do not have to dismiss them in order to try something new.
You might begin with one person who has shown you kindness and one request they could reasonably meet. “Could you check in with me this week?” “Would you sit with me for a little while?” “Could you help me with this errand?” A specific request gives both of you a place to start.
The person may be able to help, or they may have a limit of their own. Either way, asking honestly is a step toward connection. You can keep listening for the people and forms of support that feel safe and helpful to you.
Your Bridge of Light Card: You Are Guided
For this question, I drew You Are Guided. The card shows a glowing compass above open hands, and its affirmation is:
“I trust my inner knowing.”
We often think of guidance as an answer we must discover alone. But what if the quiet pull within you is leading you to reach out? What if asking for help is the next step your inner knowing has been trying to show you?
The open hands on this card remind me that we can hold care and receive it. You have offered your presence to others. There is room for someone to offer theirs to you.
You do not need to know the entire path today. You can notice one need, think of one person you trust, and see what happens when you let them know.
An Affirmation
I can listen to what I need. I can ask with honesty and receive care with an open heart.
A Supportive Sound
Choose a gentle instrumental piece or a few moments of quiet. As you listen, imagine setting down the expectation that you must have everything handled. Let yourself breathe before deciding what you need to do next.
A Crystal Companion
If you enjoy working with crystals, rose quartz can serve as a gentle reminder to include yourself in the compassion you offer others. You might hold it while you reflect or leave it somewhere you will see it during the day.
A Gentle Reflection
Is there one person with whom you feel comfortable being honest about a small need? What would you like to ask for?
You can write the request down first. It need not be polished. Something as simple as “I’ve had a hard week, and I would appreciate a call” is enough.
May you recognize the quiet guidance that helps you find your next step. May caring people meet you along the way, and may you know that you belong in the circle of care you so often create for others.
Peace, Love, and Grace,
Rev. Sheri
For Those Others Lean On
If you are often the person others turn to—the listener, the caregiver, the one who keeps showing up—your heart needs care, too.
Our Compassion Care Kits offer a gentle reminder that you also deserve kindness and support. You are welcome to request one for yourself or someone you know who has been carrying a lot.
You do not have to wait until you have nothing left to receive a little care. ❤️
