Are you Spiritual or Religious?

This is a hot topic in today’s world, with people leaving churches in droves. People have been disappointed in what they have discovered at church for years. I, myself, am no exception. You’ll find that by reading other blog posts. However, I’ve felt called back to using my Ordained Minister status, and I don’t know why. It is a deep feeling, a call from God.
I’ve had these feelings at different times in my life, and I did go through something recently that was unbelievably and unnecessarily difficult. I was in a place God should have been in the people, and I did not find God there, though Spirit was in the place itself – maybe because it was there for me.
You see, I was in bad way in a bad place … a viper’s pit of sorts. (Daniel got a lion’s den, but I wasn’t so lucky.) This place had demons, and I saw them with my eyes wide open and was not afraid … for most of it.
I was more confused because my purpose was not meant to fall into that place, and so I heard God – the masculine aspect. That part was louder than had been for many, many years. As you may know, I have studied and connected with the Feminine for a while now. I think my call out for protectors called the big one because I was not protected by those who should have protected in that place.
It’s still a longer story than can be shared here, but I was put in a lot of physical pain, and I was violated in a very cruel way. Things need to be made better, and people need to be educated on how to be kind and professional in that kind of setting. Not everyone in a hospital is a criminal.
Through it all, I kept praying. I had access to natural water in my room, so I used water to make crosses on the walls and prayed to Father God, Mother God, Angels, Archangels for protection for myself and my family. Since I am the water element, I prayed with every last ounce of myself.
It wasn’t fun, but my Gifts expanded during this time, so I could see different roads and possibilities for myself and my own loved ones in a way I never had before. When I saw danger, I asked God to give me anything bad in pain because I knew I could handle it. It’s what I had been doing for many years. (I knew it was possible this caused my illness to be worse, but I knew how to handle this pain and couldn’t handle losing anyone else. Riley had just died, too.)
But, the pain never came. After that first week of pain, when they kept my pain meds from me, something weird happened. The worst parts of my pain subsided and never returned. I think God might have given me mercy because of everything that was happening to me. It would not have been the first miracle that has happened in my life.
So, yeah, I believe the masculine aspect of God healed my pain. However, the Feminine was definitely in there with me as well, and She saved my life when I was a child. There was also a time when I’m pretty sure my guardian angel saved my life as well. All of this, and I’ve had this long standing feeling of things I’m supposed to do.
I guess it’s time to get started, though I would like to know your thoughts. How do you view religion and spirituality? How could a service be different; how could it be more helpful? I want to create something different that actually makes a difference.
It could be beautiful to include all faiths, to learn about and integrate them together as one. It could be useful to host different groups. What if we included different types of musicians, not just religious music? Please share your thoughts here at this link.
