I’m currently buried under a cloud of Minecraft info!  My son went to a birthday party at the pool over the weekend, and now he wants his birthday party at the pool, too.  We were supposed to just take a couple of friends to Zap Zone, but my soon to be 10 year old Taurus has changed his mind.  Now, I’m planning a big party and have decided to design the theme around the one thing that occupies his mind 90% of his day … Minecraft.

If you’re not familiar with this game, it is a very basic pixilated world.  Everything is square, made of bricks, and the graphics are terrible.  Honestly, I don’t understand what’s so cool about it, but it’s huge with my son and all his friends.

I had underestimated the amount of information I would find when Googling “Minecraft Birthday Party”  …. My brain is currently on overload!  I found all kinds of printable Minecraft characters and bricks and ideas for food and party favors.  There’s even a cool Minecraft font that I’m using for the invitations.

I thought I’d take a moment to visit with my website readers and write this out.  Sometimes that helps me.  Does it help you to write things down when you get overwhelmed?

Don’t get me wrong; it’s great that I have all these ideas.  But, I’m the kind of person who has a hard time reigning herself in when on idea overload.  I’m a life path 11, if your curious.  It’s easy for me to have ideas and imagine every possibility, but it’s difficult to manifest those ideas into reality because I get so caught up in all those possibilities.  So, I’m bringing myself back down to Earth a little bit … trying to ground my energy and take a breather.

I think for party favors, I’m going to make creeper magnets.  I found these great creeper faces on Art Fire and flattened bottle cap supplies from Bottle Cap Co., so I’m going to use those to create magnets.  For drinks, I’m going to get bottled water, rip the labels off and create my own “creeper juice” label with this creeper picture I found online.  For food, I’m going to keep it simple.  It’s easy to get crazy, but I’m not having this party at my house, and we’ll only have like 30 minutes for food and presents.  We’re getting pizza, grapes (zombie boogies) and creeper brownies (cut into squares with green frosting and black gel to make creeper faces).

Of course, I have a huge list of food ideas, but my beloved husband reigned me in a bit.  If you’re interested in a Minecraft party, there are lots of other food ideas … carrots (eaten in the game), watermelon (again, eaten in the game), pretzels (torches), licorice (TNT), rock candy (crystals), blue jello (water), gummy pigs and gummy cows from Amazon, creeper cupcakes, rice krispies treats (black food coloring for coal or other combinations for bricks), Hershey Kisses in the blue wrapper (diamonds), Rollo candies (gold nuggets), little smokies/pigs in blanket (pork).

Well, those are a few ideas … just had to write them down to get them out of my head.  😉  Ugh, some of those are really great ideas and now I’m thinking I may need to add more to my food menu.  Love the jello idea, but that would be difficult to transport to the pool.  Darn … maybe I can sneak in the torches and TNT … Oh, and don’t forget the balloons.  Use black and jade green balloons (draw creeper faces on the green ones with a sharpie).

Well, thanks for reading my ramblings.  Have an awesome day!  🙂

Blessings,

Sheri
