Are you an HSP-

Are You a Highly Sensitive Person?

by Heidi, contributing writer for Angel Messenger

There are Highly Sensitive People (HSP) amongst us. Everyone has sensitivities to things in life on some degree, however, a highly sensitive person will sense and feel things on a very deep level. They usually feel misunderstood and may struggle with life challenges more often because of their heightened sensitivity.

Sensing energy is one of the most natural things for an HSP, whether it’s positive or negative energy. It can feel incredibly overwhelming for an HSP when there is the harsh energy of any kind around them. If there is any type of negative energy at work, home, or in relationships, an HSP will usually need to remove themselves from the uncomfortable energy they feel. By doing so, it acts as a protective measure, but then they struggle with feeling alone.

Those who are HSP may have challenges in life, but being highly sensitive has many advantages that can be extremely helpful:

  • HSP can tell when someone isn’t being truthful, they can see right through it
  • HSP can either sense, taste, feel or know if there are harsh chemicals in their food and/or water or heavy pollution in their environment
  • HSP have compassion for others because they pick up on the energy that people around them are feeling
  • HSP will not tolerate negative behavior or energy for very long. They respect their own energy enough to change their environment, relationships, career, etc.
  • HSP are extremely cautious and protective of their energy. If they sense something is off, they will know it and remove themselves immediately. Theses advantages can be life savers!

I believe there are a lot of Highly Sensitive People in our world today. If you sense you are an HSP, you may benefit by exploring your soul energy on a deeper level. Many HSP’s discover they are an Indigo, Crystal, or an Extra Terrestrial (ET) soul. I highly recommend digging a little deeper into learning more about your sensitivities.

Being a highly sensitive person in our world today can definitely feel overwhelming at times, but you are needed here on this planet. The world needs more laughter, compassion, healing, and love. If you are an HSP, you have a natural ability to CHANGE negative energy around you. Your light helps heal our world. You are here to help uplift this planet just by your own unique soul’s energy. Thank you for shining your light.

Thank you. I’ve just shared this article with my 14 yr old daughter who is struggling at the moment as an HSP in what is typically a difficult time of identity for any young person. We have already looked at work on HSP’s together ss the descriptions resonate deeply for me as her mother and for her as the HSP. She was bullied in her latter primary years and the affects of this again are difficult enough for any child but for an HSP feeling negativity so deeply, has had quite a profound effect on her mental health. Discussions and work in this field are so very helpful in ‘normalising’ HSP’s qualities and helping them see the gift as opposed to the burden. Thank you.

Hi Nic, thank you for commenting. I happened to see your comment and want to recommend something to you that will hopefully help your daughter. I have struggled my whole life with my sensitivities and even though we can promise your daughter this is a gift and not a burden, she needs something that will help her to release what very much feels like a burden. I wish someone would have helped me with this a long time ago, but something that I can very clearly see is that these beautiful and unique souls need help to express themselves. The pain, the sensitivities (as well as all their gifts) can get all locked inside them – all wrapped up together.

For me, it turned into a very bad form of PTSD that locked me inside myself for years partly because no one ever taught me how to let it out safely. This isn’t going to happen to your daughter … don’t worry. She has a parent who cares, and that is a big deal!!! There are reasons this happened to me. I had a different road … I choose to walk a path so that I could see how important this is.

Please help your daughter learn how to express what she is feeling and what she is … to create … sing … dance … whatever helps her to let it out. Don’t let her get trapped inside herself. She needs ways to express herself mentally, emotionally, physically and even spiritually. But … you can’t push things on her … don’t force her into a particular sport, for example, but do be encouraging. She needs to experience things for herself to know what is right for her Divine being. Her soul needs to feel life in safe environments where she can reach out and find the pathways that are right for her. Soul speaks through the experiences of joy and creative action. I believe that creativity unlocks parts of the brain and has the potential to allow the Divine to ignite within.

I have found that experimenting with different forms of art has been extremely beneficial to me. It might sound silly, but painting rocks can be very therapeutic. 😉 (There are actually several Facebook groups online dedicated to this.) There are all kinds of art, though. Let her experiment with things she finds interesting. Maybe she likes photography … anyone with a cell phone can be a beginner nowadays! (My son is an amazing photographer!) In addition, if she is open to it, I would recommend some form of meditation because this will help her to connect with her own Divinity and to deal with her sensitivities.

If meditation in the normal way is not her style, she may be more interested in coloring, walking in nature, or just sitting or spending time in nature. Anything that takes her mind away from the “everyday stuff” can be a form of meditation. Honestly, sometimes even painting can turn into a meditation. There are also guided meditations she may be interested in.

Hopefully this helps you and your daughter. Just the fact that you understand who your daughter is and that you love and support her will make a big difference in her life. I can’t express that enough! Love is the most powerful Gift of all … this is Truth! Thank you for being who you are. Love and Blessings to you. <3 ~ Sheri

    Thanks for posting Nina,

I felt guided to write an article about being Highly Sensitive to let other HSP know that there are many of us out there~ we never have to feel alone or that something is wrong with us. Being sensitive is our natural indicator letting us know when we aren’t in the right vibration with the energy around us. I have learned a lot about my sensitivities through regression work; past life soul regression and between life soul regression. It really helped me process and understand my soul on a deeper level. I will be writing about regression work in the months ahead. Thanks again for sharing your thoughts on the post!

    Angel Blessings,

I was amazed to read your article about HSP – it described me to a tee. For a long time i have felt like I was weird because I get negative vibes from people and can’t be around them. I have beat myself up about being ‘anti social’ and I have never understood myself why I am the way I am. Your article has made me feel a lot better and that I’m not the only person who feels like this as life can be lonely at times. Thank you for that.
