I’ve decided to keep with the “It’s Monday” theme, and being that today is Wednesday … I’ve always thought Wednesday was spelled weird.  Hmmm, I think I’m feeling a bit weird myself.  After days of taking care of my sick little boy, I’m sick too.  Even my husband is home from work today.  Yeah, I really don’t feel good today.

My little guy is on antibiotics, so he should start to feel better soon.  I was hoping he would be able to go back to school tomorrow, but I’m not so sure about that yet.  He’s upset because he had to miss swimming class on Monday, and he might have to miss tonight.  (He doesn’t know that yet.)  This Friday, he’s having a birthday party at school.  They have one day a month where they celebrate all the birthdays for that month.  May’s birthday celebration is Friday, and he’s worried he might miss that, too.  I told him to just concentrate on getting better.  That’s all he can do for now.  We are having birthday party for him in a couple of weeks.  He invited 30 friends to a party at our local pool, and he definitely should be better by then.  His friend had a birthday party scheduled there for his birthday, and the poor kid came down with the flu and had to miss his own party, so my little guy is worried the same thing will happen to him.  It turns out he can be quite the pessimist when he’s sick.  🙁

Even on a day where everyone feels so badly, I had to find something good to write about.  Bad coffee and cat poop.  My husband made coffee this morning, but we were all out of liquid creamer.  I used fat free milk as a substitute, and it tasted terrible.  It tasted so bad, that it was almost funny.  It was bitter but warm.  It felt good on my throat, so I forced myself to drink it all the while wanting to dump it down the sink.  I was sitting at the table thinking about dumping the coffee, and then I was suddenly picturing flinging my mug across the kitchen into the sink.  All I wanted was a cup of coffee.  I have taken care of my sick boy for the last six days now and just wanted to sit down with a cup of coffee for a minute.  Why did the coffee have to taste so nasty?  So, I briefly imagined my mug flying across the kitchen, coffee arcing up and spilling everywhere and drenching the cat.  I have to say I found that funny at the time.  Where does the cat poop come in, you ask?  Oh, we have a cat who has a mind of her own and periodically goes poop where ever she feels like it.  We’ve taken her to the vet.  It’s not a medical problem.  She’s just not very nice sometimes.  Imagining her doused in coffee and giving me the stink eye made my day.  I do love animals, so don’t worry.  I’m not cruel, but the coffee drenched pooping cat is the highlight of my day so far.  I really hope it gets better.

More good news, though.  The construction is quiet for now.  They were moving equipment about 6:30am, so the beeping woke me up, but it’s quiet now.  Ah, small victories!

    Rev. Sheri,

I’m so glad I discovered your site. I am an Angel Minister with a unique ministry, and I also work for a religious non profit doing administrative work. Sometimes while at the administrative job, I can really use angelic lifts, and that is just what your site has done for me. Just like today, your post is so funny. I loved the imagery of the coffee cup floating about the kitchen and oops! spilling on poo-poo cat. 🙂 Thanks!
