Tomorrow is our Independence Day in the U.S., the 4th of July.  This day commemorates the signing of the Declaration of Independence on July 4th, 1776, declaring our independence from Great Britain.  This annual celebration is accompanied by barbecues, parades, and fireworks all across the nation.

This afternoon, my family saw Transformers at Celebration Cinema in Lansing and then went to the Texas Roadhouse for dinner.  They have a tradition there of announcing birthday and having guests raise their glasses to the celebration of another year.  Today, there was a birthday, and shortly thereafter another celebration was announced.  A young woman was there having dinner with her family.  She was just home from Afghanistan, and she will be going back again shortly.  Everyone raised their glasses to the young woman and her sacrifice in the name of freedom.

It’s men and women like this one that our celebration is all about; it’s a celebration about freedom from tyranny – ours and others.  I know there are many reasons the U.S. became involved in this current conflict in the middle east, but the truth is that men and women make sacrifices every day for the sake of life, liberty and free rights we hope to maintain in this country.  Tomorrow is a celebration of what that stands for.  I’m sending out my love and asking the angels for blessings and protection for our brothers and sisters in arms.  This is my personal thank you to soldiers like my sister, Jessica, and all those others out there stationed in places far from their loved ones.  Thank you all (and our forefathers) for your dedication and your service.   Without those heroes of the past, we might not have the freedom to think for ourselves today.  As Americans, we must always remember what our forefathers fought for, too.  They didn’t fight for the right to stand aside and let others dictate what we believe, what we stand for.  They fought for our rights to our God given free will.  We have the ability and freedom to think for ourselves, and it’s important we remember to do so now and in the future.

Be independent!  Don’t base your opinions on the words of others.  There’s a lot going on in this nation of ours.  I urge you to put your thinking caps on and find the truth for yourselves.

In the past, I’ve had people contact me and ask me things like what time their appointment is scheduled for when they never scheduled a session with me.  It was with an advertiser they clicked on and couldn’t remember who it was.  Or, they purchased an astrology chart from my site, but I don’t sell astrology charts.

Remember, the internet is the internet.  Anyone can publish whatever they want on this thing.  I use Google ads not only because they help support my site, but the ads can also provide you access to some other great websites with helpful information.  Please, when using my site, understand that advertisers are not affiliated with me or with Angel Messenger.  If you purchase a reading with someone, you need to know who you’re scheduling it with and beware what kind of person they are.  Do a Google search on their name.

Here are a few warning signs of a psychic scam …

1. Testimonials on the site are general at best.  (Even if they provide pictures of clients, pictures can be found anywhere and usually are.  Most real psychics do not keep track of client personal information, and they especially don’t take the time to take photos of their clients.)

2. Website claims are ridiculous (ie. helping you win the lottery or making someone fall in love with you – There is so much wrong with these statements, I don’t even know where to begin!)

3. When you do a Google search on the website, all sorts of  complaints come up.

4. Bold press testimonials with no source (or one you’ve never heard of even after doing a Google search)

Above all, use the internet with care.  Anyone can advertise just about anywhere.  They don’t need to be good at what they do and certainly don’t have to have your best interest at heart.  The only psychic, medium, spiritual intuitive or otherwise you will find on my site that I personally know and can account for proper intentions is myself.  Any person advertising on my site through Google is not affiliated with or backed by myself or my site.  While I appreciate that my readers click on ads and help support Angel Messenger, I do not in any way want any of you to be taken advantage of.  If you ever come across an advertiser on my site that seems fraudulent or even questionable, please let me know.  I will block any site that needs to be blocked.  Thank you.

My son’s first season of flag football recently came to a close. He was so proud when the coach handed him his medal … until he looked and the back and exclaimed, “Made in China!  What the heck?  Is everything made in China?”

The elections this year were interesting. Michigan is entirely run by Republicans now.  I don’t even know where to begin with my thoughts on that.  The media said that many people voted for any name they didn’t recognize, intending to vote in new blood.  Basically, everyone is sick of politics it seems.  Well, me too, but blind voting won’t solve anything.  Voting for an unnamed devil can be riskier than the one you already know.  I think we really need to do away with parties and just elect the best candidate.  Party lines might just kill our government.  Anyway …

I also found it interesting that, despite being dead, Democrat Jenny Oropeza won a Senate seat in California.  What message does that send?  Honestly, I’m pretty sure a dead woman would have a much clearer insight and sense of honor and duty that most of the politicians in office today.  I would have voted for her, too!  Way to go, CA!

McDonalds makes me crazy. I recently went to my local McDonalds to buy two caramel frappes.  Yes, I’m aware they’re not good for you, but they do taste good.  Anyway, they totally messed up my order and were about to give me the wrong thing.  I was very clear with the guy making the order.  He was trying to ring me up for some mocha thing that the automatic voice doodad was trying to sell.  I explained, “The frozen frappe drink with caramel.”  He said, “Okay, I got it.  Please pull around to the window.”  Well, he didn’t get it.  They were busy.  It was fine.  The girl at the window said to just pull up and she would have someone bring the correct drinks out.  I was a little irritated because I was in a hurry, but I tried to be patient.  So, the guy brings out the drinks and asks to see my receipt.  Then he tells me these drinks cost 22 cents more than what I paid, so the manager wants me to come in and work this all out inside, so that I can pay the difference.  At this point, I can’t believe what I’m hearing.  It was their mistake, but they need to hassle the customer over 22 cents.  Well, I simply don’t have time for this ordeal, so I have to give him back one of the drinks.  Of course, it was fine with the McDonalds employee that I paid over $6 for one frappe, but they couldn’t afford the 22 cents.  To me, it had nothing to do with the mistake, but I was disgusted by the precedent.  Really, is this customer service nowadays?  And I thought we were supposed to be headed toward further enlightenment … Hey, what do I know?  My desire for enlightenment tells me to steer clear of McDonalds.

I’m still unpacking boxes. When we first moved in, we unpacked everything with the “open first” stickers on them and left the rest in the garage while we managed to make some kind of order within the house.  Since it’s about to snow, we had to clear out the garage.  So, I was going through some boxes and found an old poem my husband wrote for me several years ago.  It was about how things were so difficult, but he loved me and that made everything else okay.  It was sweet to find that.  It reminded me of everything we’ve been through over the years, how much we loved each other then and how much we love each other now.  We have so much to be thankful for.

I’m thinking about offering email readings again.  I’ve had several people write in and ask if I would consider offering them.  I actually did do email readings once upon a time but stopped.  It was becoming difficult to connect with clients through email.  People were purchasing the reading but not giving their basic info, meaning their name and date of birth.  I would have to send several emails back and forth before I could do the reading and it was taking way more time than was accounted for in the payment.  Sometimes, I would have people sending emails back to me wanting to ask additional questions as if the one-time payment made me their personal on call psychic.  I would easily spend more than two hours on a $25 reading.  If I do consider offering email readings again, I will have to think about how to make the process more streamlined.  Even with the “Ask Sheri” submissions I receive, I’m very clear in the form what information I need to properly answer the question, but I still receive submissions that don’t even give a first name.  I have nothing to connect to, so I can’t answer the question.  Many people in my profession do not offer email readings, and I can see why that is.  I don’t know.  Maybe I will offer them on a temporary basis and see how it goes.

My waiting list is winding down. I only have about 20 or so names left on my list.  My goal is to be able to offer appointments to the general public after the new year, but it might be before that.  When I’m able to accept new appointments, I will post the link on Facebook first.  If you’re one of my online friends, keep watch.  I’ll put a notice in my blog as well, but FB fans will likely have first access to my schedule.

I should be back to offering in-person sessions again soon, too. I couldn’t offer them for a while because my insurance company wanted certain things repaired on my home.  My front porch was unfinished and slightly dangerous, but that’s finally completed.  Now, I just have to finish getting my reading room in order.  I will say, though, that my reading room does not have a door.  If you bring a guest to your session, they will likely hear your session.  I do also have people on my waiting list who are still waiting for in-person sessions, so they will be seen before I offer in-person sessions to the general public.  Telephone sessions will be available on my public schedule before in-person sessions will be.

I can’t even begin to tell you how many times I’ve asked Heaven these same questions, especially over the last year. Sitting alone late at night with silent tears, trying not to wake my husband and son, I have asked God why …

“Why are those I love sick and dying?”

“Why are so many people experiencing so much loss and pain?”

“Why is my family losing our home? Why are there walls blocking every escape? Why, after all I’ve done, after all I do, will you not help me? I’ve done everything you’ve asked, and I would do more. Why do you just stand by and watch us suffer? Why don’t you help?”

After listening to Declan’s song, I asked again. I asked God why so much has happened and why so many are struggling. I asked God why the people of Haiti have seen so much devastation and why their government is unable to accept all the help that has been offered. It’s frustrating to see help just sitting in boxes, unable to reach those in need. I also asked why we are able to send help to those so far away while yet so many are suffering in our own country – in different ways but still unaided and crying out.

And then I received my answer. Why does God just stand by and let all this happen? He doesn’t. He has sent help, but we are unwilling or unable to receive it. He has sent angels in disguise. He has sent us spiritual leaders. They might be politicians, but some have gotten caught up in things that don’t matter and have forgotten their mission. They might be financial institutions, but only time will tell if they will do their part. They might even be children, but adults don’t always listen. They might be me, and they might be you.

God has sent us help. Even with my own struggles, there are ways I can help. Even with your struggles, there are ways you can help. Humanity can be greedy and selfish, but humanity is also capable of great love and miraculous feats. So many of us wonder why we would want to be born into such a difficult world, such a difficult life, but this is why. We are here to love and be loved. We are here to learn and experience humanity – at its worst or its best. How we choose to use our lives is up to us. Will we make a difference, or will we simply stand aside and ask, “Why?”

Over the next couple of years, humanity will see many opportunities to rise up and shine or to wallow in darkness. Our success or failure will be determined by our humanity. What choices will we make? What will we do? Will we choose to change our attitudes and reach out to one another, or will we let humanity die where it stands? Will we save our oceans? Will we end our petty wars? Will we save each other? Why do we suffer? We suffer because humanity has chosen to suffer. When we ask why, we need to be asking that question of ourselves. We can choose to live like this, or we can create Heaven on Earth. What’s your choice? What will you decide? What will you do to make a difference?

The situations in Iran and North Korea are too important for spiritual apathy. I can’t count how many times I’ve spoken to people who claim to be spiritually enlightened who say that they don’t watch the news because it’s too violent or too disturbing. I want to encourage all of you to rethink that position. I once shared a call with Rev. Michael Beckwith who suggested we use the news as a reason to pray — to watch the tragic events of our times and send our love and energy for the healing and evolution of humanity. To close our eyes at this critical time is the same as turning your back. All you need to do is watch the smuggled video of Neda, the 16 year old girl in Iran who was shot dead by Iranian militia during the recent protests over the presidential election. Will you turn a blind eye to her death, or see it as a “spiritual call to action,” raising your heart and soul to support these brave people and say “I can be part of the shift toward peace”?

In September I am traveling to Iran, North Korea and Israel for a series of concerts and worldwide prayer vigil that will give us the opportunity to respond spiritually to these important issues. I am putting my own life on the line because I feel that this is such20a critical moment, and all I’m asking of you is to join me in spirit. A Single Week That May Change the World

On Giving, Receiving, and Healing the Economy

On a recent trip to a frost-bitten city, I saw four men on each corner of an intersection. They hunkered against the winter windstorm, while holding cardboard signs begging for money for food.

I thought of one of my favorite stories about author C.S. Lewis, who was a famous charitable giver. After C.S. gave money to a homeless man, someone asked the author if he was worried that the money was given to a huxter who was pretending to be homeless. C.S. replied, “At the end of my life, it won’t really matter to me that I gave money to someone who didn’t need it. But what will matter to me is whether I DID give money to someone who actually did need it.”

At the thought of this story, I smiled and handed the man closest to me some money, to which he gave me a return smile and a “God Bless You.” The good feelings I received right then were priceless.

It’s more important to give than ever right now! The economy appears to be stalled, because there’s a fear of the security in the future. Yet, by holding back on spending or giving, we create a self-fulfilling prophecy and a bottle-neck effect.

The economy is in our individual hands. You and I have the power to unblock the bottleneck with shows of confidence and courage, such as giving to those in need. If you know of someone in your community who’s lost a job, or a family with financial needs, rally around them and create a network of giving with your other neighbors. Simple acts of giving can save lives, families, and the economy right now.

Another form of giving is spending money at your local independent and Mom and Pop stores, who depend upon our individual purchases to maintain their expenses. Local community and neighborhood efforts are empowering, because they remind you that the economy isn’t in some outside entity’s control or power. YOU have the power yourself, right now!

Prophets have long taught about the importance of tithing and giving, as an ancient secret of attracting and manifestation. Whatever you need more of, give that same away: money, time, clothing, furniture, love, helpfulness . . . anything! It’s a demonstration of abundance to the universe, that always results in miraculous experiences of receiving in response to giving.

Of course we don’t give in order to receive. That’s called “outlining” which is handing the universe a script of how you want your prayers answered . . . a limiting and blocking behavior.

Instead, give with joy and courage, and without attachment to outcome. And know that you are already receiving in surprising, unexpected, and sometimes humorous ways.

Today, look for three or more ways to give. It can be anything: a smile, a hug, words of encouragement, a ride, a meal, or money. Feel the shift within yourself each time that you give. And trust that your needs are being taken care of automatically. Give with confidence. Give today.

To increase your secure feelings about money, try these methods:

1. Write your worries or concerns and put them in a special box (I call it a God Box) as a physical demonstration of “letting go and letting God” help you with the issues.

2. Write a letter to God, spelling out all of your feelings and what you need help with. Put this letter face-up on your altar or the location where you most-often pray. I’ve had miraculous results over the years with this method.

3. Write any fears on a piece of paper and then put that paper in the freezer compartment of your refrigerator. When you “freeze the fears,” the problem is rapidly resolved.

4. Keep asking yourself: “What is the blessing within this situation?” There’s always a silver lining to every seeming problem.

5. Use my favorite Louise Hay affirmation: “Out of this situation, only good will come!” The more that you affirm this, the more peaceful you will feel. And a peaceful mind attracts and creates wonderful solutions.

End Conflict by Practicing Spiritual Peacemaking

With government modifications on the horizon, many people worry about how change and reform will trickle down into their personal life. Will taxes increase and war continue? Is one person responsible for instituting ideas that may affect national policy? With the amount of negative media circulating on the subject of political candidates, remember true change takes individual practice and discipline. If a daily exchange of fear, blame, and doom has replaced your daily affirmation, you need to say “yes!” to the goodness life has to offer.

Spiritual peacemaking for modern times requires that we enter into a sacred office of peace focused on conflict release. There is no need to live in conflict and suffering. Because of free-will, each individual must make that choice for themselves!  When nations make this choice, our global consciousness will change and humanity will be uplifted. That is why everyone’s contribution to love and peace is vital, beginning with you.

Through many situations, the Divine is relating to us at all times, challenging us to recognize Grace and love despite the commotion. Acknowledge Grace and anything positive in your life today and it will grow. Instead of blaming others, first look for solutions within. Turn inward and attend to your heart. Stop worrying who said what to whom yesterday or three years ago. When others generate negativity, choose to respond differently. Think, “Peace is present in everything and everyone.”

As Within, So Without

Peace is a simple, internal message that bears a lot of external impact. Anadagiriji said that a person cannot separate individual transformation from global transformation. If you want to be of service to the world, first look to self-growth. What you feel today is manifesting in a part of the world tomorrow. Your fear may become a crime somewhere. Your discomfort may become a war somewhere. Leaders are merely there and they can’t be responsible for changing the entire world! Being a spiritual peacemaker means knowing who you are within a greater whole. When we embrace the idea of peace, it creates a shift or realization in another person’s everyday activity.

Our world is a reflection of an inner state of consciousnesses. To operate in a field of Oneness we must remember that we ARE the world. All beings are connected at the energetic level, where there is no separation. We may believe poverty and crime is the system’s responsibility, but truly we are all responsible because we are one.

A Better World Begins with You

Everyone is a reflection of their own emotional conditions. All hurt is a lack of self-love. If you have deep, unresolved hurt it may become a vengeance to hurt, or translate into anger toward the whole world. When someone generates conflict, understand you cannot change that person. Instead, help that person see their inner state of consciousness. True change and reform is about self-love first. That is how the world will be transformed. When you heal yourself and love others, you are initiating the Golden Age where comfort and peace will thrive. As you improve, the world improves!

A loveable person does not crave love or judge others. She is one who is at ease with herself. You don’t find ease by seeking significance or complaining about the way the world is managed. When you completely accept yourself, you can accept others, no matter what political party, religion or gender. There is no energy lost in conflict. When you are at ease with yourself you are serving the world!

Practice Peace

Be a spiritual peacemaker by making these practices part of your daily Sadhana:

1. Vow to use positive language. Since peace begins with you, vow to eliminate arguing from your reality. Choose to be aware of love. Stop focusing on suffering and finding fault with others. All beings are capable of peace. It is a choice through word, action, and imagery.
2. Invite more self-acceptance. Focus on your own growth. Accept life as it comes and stop blaming political leaders, family members, or circumstances. If you are at ease with yourself, you’ll feel calm during an upheaval and be able to laugh at your own thoughts when you get off-track.
3. Resonate with peace. Establish a resonance pattern with peace that is already present. Look for peace within yourself and align to it. As you elevate to this vibration, you’ll fully experience peace, no matter what goes on around you. If peace fills you, you can bring others along for the ride. Say, “Change begins with me.  I resonate with the pattern of peace.”
4. Express love. Learn to deeply express more love in your life. Teach others to do the same. Start at home and see yourself as an instrument of peace for others. Since peace is a projection of our own minds, it is an inside-out process.
5. Live in the present moment. Bring peace by being present. Stop projecting old emotions and imagining what may or may not happen on the outside. See each person as having the Light within and extend this vision to everyone, every moment.

Peace is not the absence of war, abuse, violence, or terrorism. Peace is about acknowledging the presence of Divinity in one another. When we recognize the Divinity in ourselves, we will recognize it in each other and negative conditions will fade. So, to live life without conflict, BE the idea of peace. Of course, we must take action to translate our peacemaking efforts, but peace begins with you.  Be willing to respond to every moment with spiritual peacemaking.  Don’t doubt the results, just be ready to transform the whole world….which is you!
