The Goal of Life

by Neil Millar

Anyone can count the seeds in an apple; no one can count the apples in a seed.

~ Anonymous

A noble goal in life is to be happy. A while ago I began planting seeds that inspired a group of people to new happiness. I’d like to share some of the things that came about. Let’s start with what gets in the way…

Happiness is something that naturally comes about in the absence of fears, negative feelings and doubts. Money worry cuts many off from happiness. Almost always people feel they have too little - not enough to pay the mortgage or buy what they want. Their life suffers as a result. The feeling of lack or limitations burns through everything else. When this type of focus, thought, word and deed come into harmony, there can be little doubt about the outcome.

This is why the findings of my group become important. You see, money, health, relationships, family, spirituality and growth - they are all about focus. What we focus on becomes reality.

How do we change things?

In the old days, when we had record players, when we wanted to change tracks on a long playing record we just lifted the needle from the groove and put it on a more desirable track. The same principal works here.

A Worthwhile Dream

Lack of money is not the cause, it’s a symptom. Being overweight is not a cause, it’s a symptom. Failing romantically is not a cause, it’s a symptom. The cause of these hardships are always rooted right back in our subconscious mind. The techniques I used with my group outlined what could be done to relieve the symptoms and create a worthwhile dream.

What is a worthwhile dream?

A worthwhile dream is a progressive realisation of our desires. It’s not the end result. It’s the journey. It’s understanding the tough experiences for what they are, acknowledging them, learning from them and moving on. It’s the joy and the happiness of the experience of being part of an unfolding adventure in which you play the lead role - hero, villain or victim, to name a few.

Within us all we have the seeds of our happiness and success. The question is do we dare to plant them? Do we know how to nurture them? Will we allow them to unfold?

Some Ideas to get you started

1. Gurus always tell you to visualise. This is a good start. Picture what you want. See it unfolding and engage your senses. But this isn’t all. This on it’s own may not be enough.

2. If you visualise and affirm (speak what you see happening, in the now) then you increase your chances of successfully bringing about what you desire. But this may still not be enough.

3. Act as if. Guru’s say if want something you have to give. They say if you want money you need to give it. I’m not convinced about this one. I think the guru’s got it wrong, or have copped-out. I think this is lazy. You give and hope that some will come back to you. Of course there are examples where it does. But this doesn’t happen to everyone. I say if you want money, you have to give your time and effort to understanding the fundamentals of what creates and accumulates money. When you’ve got it, it’s easy to give back in a way that evolves the world. When you don’t have it and someone says give it, all you do is give in the energy of lack saying, ‘I can’t afford this.’

While step one and two work on a subconscious level - getting you to think with the right mentality - step three is practical. Last year I wanted to take off some excess weight. In order to do that I immersed myself in the experience of being slimmer and trimmer. I engaged in therapy, I took on a personal trainer, I got coached, I read books on food and nutrition.

What was the outcome?

Over time I began to notice behaviour changes. With the help of a coach I pin-pointed those changes faster and took action quicker and quicker and what do you know? I lost weight and feel much the better for it.

Because I lost myself in the experience of my desire, I found happiness. True, some days I found harder than others. But when you experience your weight, the issues that led you to put it on, what you have to consider as you lose it, you come out the other end, knowing yourself better, loving yourself better and understanding the tapestry of life a little more. Like the quote at the top, the possibilities inside you are endless.

All you have to do is decide what will bring you more happiness and immerse yourself in the experience.

Until next time

Neil

Your Soul Already Knows, Finding the Perfect Career For You

Your Soul Already Knows, Finding the Perfect Career For You

by Kathi Calahan

The day you were born your Soul brought with it all the skills, talents, interests and hobbies you would need to fulfill your Life’s Work and find the perfect career for your personality. But sometimes we forget our purpose and end up working at jobs we don’t like.

But you don’t have to!

Let’s cut right to the chase. If you’re working at a job just for the money and it’s not enough , you’re in the wrong job. There is no reason to work in a career that doesn’t pay the bills or make use of your best God-given talents. There’s so much to know in finding the perfect career, and I’m going to show you now one of the most important things you should begin your search with.

There is a perfect career for you and your Soul remembers what it is and can help you find it. How? One way is to look at your personality. And your personality is made up of all those skills, talents, interests & hobbies tucked away in the knowledge base of your soul. Some people are quiet, hard workers, others are go-getters. Which are you? By answering the following questions honestly, you will have a great starting point from which to move forward.

Are you an extrovert?

Do you prefer starting a project and leaving the follow-through to others?

Do you mind delivering bad news if it is for the good of the company?

Are you more of an idea person than a colony worker bee?

Are you a visionary who can picture their work goals succeeding months down the road?

If you answered yes to 3 or more of these personality insight questions, then you are much better suited to a career where you are either self employed or working for a company in a management position. It’s a start. This knowledge you now have about yourself is vital if you are going to find the career of your dreams. Make a decision right now as to whether you want the responsibility of developing your own business or working in management for an outside company.

If you answered no to most of the above questions, you will find yourself much happier working for someone else. Too many lovely people think they want management positions, or their own business, but their personalities are much better suited to working for someone else. For even more information on finding your true personality and place in the work force, let me show you how.

Kabbalah: The Key to Understanding The Past

Kabbalah: The Key to Understanding The Past

by Bnei Baruch

Regret, we’ve all experienced this painful emotion. Phrases like,” I wish,” “if I had only known,” and “if I could do it over” are often verbalized in regard to our lives. We as humans tend to live in the past and often look back to the point that it numbs us to our present situations.

Many would say you should “put the past behind you,” and “let bygones be bygones.” But as humans we often find this advice impossible to heed. Often our insecurities and doubts make it difficult to focus on what is happening right in front of us.

We continue to feel responsible for situations in our lives and regard our past as something that belongs to us. We attempt to rewrite our histories by looking for something in the future that will take away the hurts and disappointments of yesterday.

What exactly can we influence in our life? There is an ancient prayer that says, “Lord! Grant me the strength to change the things I can change, the courage to accept the things I cannot change, and the wisdom to know the difference”.

The teachings of Kabbalah can help us understand our past and grant us the wisdom to know the difference in what we can change and what we cannot. The book of Shamati (”I Heard”) is a collection of lessons spoken by Baal HaSulam to his students. The first article begins:

“It is written that “there is none else beside Him,” meaning that there is no other power in the world with the ability to do anything against Him. And what man sees, namely, that there are things in the world which deny the household of above, is because He wills it so.”

This means that there is a single force, called “Nature” or “the Creator,” that guides our development. In other words, everything that ever happened to us was supposed to happen exactly the way it did. This is true regardless of what happened and how it happened. Even if it has brought us to some undesirable, painful, unpleasant result today. Even if at this moment it is really burning, killing us from within, it does not matter. We must accept that everything that happened up until this moment took place because the Creator willed it so.

Kabbalah also teaches us that the Creator’s only goal is to fill us with unbounded delight. So how can we reconcile these two seeming contradictions?

According to Kabbalah, mankind’s ultimate purpose is to reach a perfect and eternal state where we are in harmony with all of creation. Man is the only aspect of nature that was given the ability to choose to do this. Everything else in the world was created to exist within this harmony as part of its inherent nature. Man, on the other hand, was created with an opposite nature, with an illusion of independence and control. In contrast to Nature’s interconnectedness, man operates from egoism - what is best for me. Mankind’s task is to transcend this nature in order to partake of the bounty that Nature has provided us.

Nature provides us with situations that will show us the difference between our nature and the altruistic nature we are meant to acquire. When we experience this difference, we perceive it as suffering. Whether we realize it or not, the suffering of humanity is constantly pushing us closer to achieving the harmony that Nature intended.

Kabbalah provides us with a methodology to become consciously involved in our life’s process of development. It shows us that we cannot change the past, or even the present. In fact, there is only one thing that we can change: ourselves. By making this internal change, we change everything we see around us.

This does not mean that the painful events of the past are forgotten, or that we will avoid challenges in the future. Instead, these events now provide us with the incentive we need to convince us to work on changing our inherent nature. As we come into alignment with Nature, there will be less and less suffering on both an individual and a global scale. We begin to feel the Creator, and our lives begin to make sense.

Through this connection, we reach the point where we understand that all of our past situations were given to us by the Creator so that we could realize ourselves on a higher level. We can then put the past behind us. We begin to see that all the situations which caused us pain were to awaken the spiritual part of ourselves which is timeless.

Careers & God, How to Discover Who You Are

Careers & God, How to Discover Who You Are
by Kathi Calahan

You work because you have bills to pay. Or do you?

The fortunate ones work because they love what they do, not because of the bills. Even if they won the lottery, they’d still get up every morning doing what they love.

How about you?

In Discovering Your Life’s Work, you will not only find out who you are, but spiritually find far more to your career choice than meets the eye. Unless we were thinking of joining the church as a priest, preacher, or nun, who’d have thought spirituality and our careers would go together? They do and I’ll show you how, right now.

Your soul is that part of your being which came from God. The day you were born you already had all the talents, interests and skills you were ever going to need to make a beautiful life for yourself. As we grow older, many of us forget these God-given gifts and the purpose of our birth. But the way we discover who we are is to remember our gifts.

Sometimes our talents are readily noticeable at a very young age, such as with child prodigies. According to CNN.com/living author, Rick Chillot, “It’s said the Pablo Picasso had an interest in drawing even before he could speak. Perhaps that’s why, once he finally could talk, he immediately started demanding that his father (an artist himself) give him his paintbrushes.”Today we know that your career is nothing more than one perfect opportunity to make use of your gifts, thereby discovering who you are and why you are here. The whole process involves recognizing your connection to God and finding work that you dearly love. Your career is the perfect outlet for making use of your talents, interests and skills.

It is said that precocious Pablo Picasso refused to start school in Spain unless he was allowed to draw whenever he wanted. Fortunately, his parents and teachers saw the potential and gave him what he wanted. Do you feel that passionate about the work that you do? Is your career like breathing to you?

In a recent New York Daily News article, writer Bill Manville describes spirituality as more than religion, giving way to the idea that God is more involved with our lives than we originally thought. He says, “My belief is the life of the spirit covers a vast rainbow of ideas, religion being only one…but to me, spirituality includes just about every value invisible to your accountant.” So, to find the perfect career, you only need the following:

A belief in some kind of God or Spiritual Creator A recognition that you have unique spiritual gifts which include talents, interests and skills A willingness to look deeply within yourself and ask the right questions What are the right questions? Easy.

Why am I here? What is my purpose? What is my favorite skill? What is my favorite talent? What am I most interested in? How can I make use of my favorite skill, talent and interest and make a living, while contributing to society?

Easy, right? Well, maybe not easy, but definitely interesting. You have a purpose and there is a reason why you’re here. When will you start?

When to run from the palm reader

Date August 22, 2008

When to run from the palm reader

by Sara Sirolli

Dispelling the myths:

Palmistry is one of those subjects, like politics and religion, that evokes strong opinions, usually for or against. It surprises me that in this day and age and in this atmosphere of information sharing there are still so many gray areas surrounding the science?

Without letting the cat out the bag essentially a very large part of palm reading is highlighting characteristics and personal traits which are mostly already known to the individual. Whether we like it or not our thoughts and deeds are reflected in our hands (and feet) and arts like Palmistry and Reflexology take advantage of this fact. The impact of this surprise is magnified when we hear our personalities dissected and summarized by a total stranger!

It’s true that palmistry had a rocky beginning in Europe with the Catholic church - billed as competition. However, I think that a lot of bad press surrounding Palmistry has also been generated by some unscrupulous practitioners who promise more than they can deliver or worse…

In the 12 years that I have been practicing palmistry I have heard some disheartening stories that do the trade an injustice. In trying to help those that have a genuine interest in the art and hopefully weed out those practitioners that give the science a bad name I have compiled a short ‘when to run’ list.

Start running if:

1)The palmist says curses have been placed on yourself and/or your loved ones (and of course only they can remove said curse.)

2)The palmist, psychic, fortune teller, tarot reader etc. says they have the solution to all of your problems (while they’re at it let them lower the petrol prices.)

3)The palmist requires a conspicuously large sum of money; usually following statements made in points 1 and 2.

Palm reading is supposed to help, it should enlighten us and leave us with new options. Through discovering and mostly re-discovering our characters we can work on our weaknesses and use our strengths to our advantages - if we are not already doing so.

Remember, nothing is set in stone, we are usually faithful to our main character traits which determine our behavior BUT we are also creative beings who have the ability to change how we think and therefore what we don’t like.

All the best, and please feel free to contact me via my palm reading website if you have any questions or anything you would like to share with me.

Life Lessons: Unconditional Acceptance

Life Lessons: Unconditional Acceptance

by Pat Campbell

A couple of years ago I met a dear old lady who I will call Annie (not her real name). She was 97 and very frail and unable to walk but with a mind as bright as a button. I only knew her for a few short weeks before she passed on but I felt I knew her for a lifetime. We shared so much of ourselves in that short time and I feel very blessed to have known her. I was closer to her than my own mother who had passed on some 14 years previously.

I attended Annie’s funeral and it was there that I received the first part of a profound enlightenment. When the eulogies were being given, I suddenly experienced what I call “the God feeling” very strongly. (This intense feeling of total love goes way beyond anything mortal and it has often accompanied major “aha” moments, especially in the early days of my relationship with God. I soon came to understand that God wanted me to know that the new insight or piece of wisdom came from Him. The knowledge that I have acquired during these moments I call “absolute knowings” because I have known beyond a shadow of doubt that these learnings were absolute truth.)

It became apparent to me that God wanted me to listen very carefully to what was being said. Annie’s son was talking at the time about the way that Annie totally accepted everyone she encountered in her life, regardless of their situation, belief, habits or attitudes. She truly did know that we are all one and treated everyone equally. And I thought to myself, “What is the lesson here? I do endeavour to accept everyone! This doesn’t seem to be anything that I haven’t already learnt.”

It was a few days later before I realised that it was myself that I had to learn to accept unconditionally. I already accepted others as they are (along with their faults) but I have always been very hard on myself for the slightest little mistake, misdeamour or oversight on my part. It was okay for others to be less than perfect but I couldn’t accept that in myself.

It never ceases to amaze me how different events in our lives (and past lives) fall together to create a complete story.
Shortly after Annie’s funeral, I had a thought that kept popping into my head that I had done a terrible wrong to a friend of mine in another lifetime. I didn’t want to think about it because it was really a very big transgression but my thoughts kept returning there regardless. And then I had a dream (something I don’t do very often as I am more likely to have “waking dreams”). In the dream I was the victim of the same transgression and the perpetrator in this instance was someone I also know very well in this lifetime.

As I was thinking about how these events were related (and also feeling rather bad because I knew my previous transgression was true), I felt what I call “the voice feeling” which is hard to describe. I don’t audibly hear actual words but I “feel” the words instead (and I have to admit that I am just a little envious of Neale Donald Walsch and Barbara Rose who do actually hear God’s voice audibly). And the “voice” said to me, “Do you judge the one who wronged you?” And I thought no I don’t, it doesn’t make any difference to the way I feel about this person at all. And the “voice” said, “Well why are you judging yourself so harshly for your wrongdoing when you can accept it in another?” And that’s when I realised that all of these events occurred so that I might learn to accept myself as readily as I accept others. It is not a lesson totally learnt even now and I do still tend to berate myself for not doing everything I set out to do but I have definitely made some progress and have somewhat relaxed my expectations of myself to a level which is more humanly achievable.

As an extension of these events and realisations, it also became apparent to me that in three different lifetimes, one can be the perpetrator, the victim and the observer; a trilogy of human existence to aid divine understanding. By “observer”, I don’t mean that one physically watches a transgression or crime taking place. I mean that one comes to an understanding of how it all fits together. There is no room for blame, shame, regret or judgement. Learning includes the bad as well as the good. We are all in the same boat living as we are in a duality existence here on earth. We are all comprised of good and bad, generous and mean, sharing and selfish. When one understands and accepts that no one is better than another regardless of the way people act, then we are beginning to understand the necessity of duality and can rise above it towards enlightenment.

Intuition and Your Mind

Intuition and Your Mind
by Andrea Hess

When it comes to intuitive development, the biggest obstacle we possibly face is our own mind. It works really, really hard to dissuade us from believing our intuitive insights. Why? Because it enjoys being in charge!

For most of our lives, our mind has been calling the shots. It has made most of our every day decisions and at least some of our life-altering choices. It entertains itself — and us — with planning, worrying, daydreaming and remembering. It has kept us safe, and fed, and comfortable.

Now we want to access our intuition. This means handing over at least some of our decisions and choices to our Higher Self. We want intuitive guidance to be a part of our lives, and that means calling on our spiritual resources. Our mind is entirely uncomfortable with this turn of events, especially because our Higher Self may guide us outside of our comfort zone.

Here are some of the mind’s favorite tricks to keep you from accessing your intuition:

1. Forgetfulness. You mean to ask for guidance. You plan on meditating before bed. You are really committed to your intuitive development. But somehow, you forget to listen for your inner wisdom. Before you know it, a day or a week has gone by, and your intuition has fallen by the wayside.

Surrounding yourself with reminders that your intuition is an available resource is a good strategy. Place a sticky note on your bathroom mirror, or on the steering wheel of your car, reminding you to meditate or ask for guidance. Wear a piece of jewelry that reminds you to be in the present moment.

2. Doubt. Your mind will react to intuitive information by second-guessing you all the way. Even as your intuition speaks to you, your mind will tell you that you’re imagining the event.

The best way to manage doubt is to acknowledge it fully. Doubt becomes more powerful when we try to fight it. So many clients I work with try to find certainty by resisting doubt, only to find their doubts strengthened. Listen to the objections of your mind, and follow your intuition anyway.

3. Procrastination. Your mind will tell you to act on intuitive guidance — later. You file your intuitive ideas and inspiration away, thinking you’ll get around to acting on them when you’re less tired, less stressed, or in a better mood. Weeks or months later, you still find yourself saying “I’ve been meaning to . . . ”

Write down intuitive information as soon as you receive it. Give yourself a few hours every week to act on this information. Schedule it in your calendar, as if you were making a date with your Higher Self.

The mind is one of our most wonderful tools. We just have to remember that it is not our master.

The Missing Secret of the Law of Attraction

Date August 19, 2008

This is what I was talking about in my last podcast.  People forget they need to actually “live” their lives.

~ Sheri

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The Missing Secret of the Law of Attraction
by Ryan Porter
Now I know what you are thinking; “not another article on the Law of Attraction!”  I too am starting to feel a little saturated by the continuous onslaught of information surfacing on this age-old idea.   There is truth and value to the principles of the Law of Attraction and they can work in your life, however, one important principle has been left out of the “secret” to the law of attraction
There have been movies made about it and countless professional speakers are now adapting their presentations and seminars to include the teachings and principles of the Law of Attraction.  One very powerful principle is being seriously overlooked by many who are trying to perfect the application of this law with results that include discouragement and disappointment instead of the dreams and wishes they’d ordered.
“People think it’s magic.  They think as long as they are holding thoughts about all the “stuff” they want, it will appear in front of them.  They believe that someone will come along and hand them their dreams neatly wrapped in a pretty box,” says Ryan Porter, a professional speaker and creator of the Make Your Own Lunch program.  Ryan explains, “People seem to miss the majority of the word; ACTION!  The Law of Attraction is nothing without action!”
This idea of an individual’s vision needing action to be effective has been around for thousands of years.  Do you recall this phrase from the Bible, “Faith without works is dead”?
It is, of course, crucial that you have a clear vision of what you want but it is just as important to take action.  Taking action gives you power and control of your dreams and vision. Move forward with dedication and commitment to get what you want.
Ryan explains the two-part process, “It’s like ordering food at a drive-thru window.  First you have to approach the drive-thru speaker and place your order into the microphone.  Then you have to actually take action and drive to the window to pick it up.  Your order doesn’t magically appear in your car ; you have to go and get it.  Many people forget half of the equation and end up with feelings of failure.  This equation works every time without exception.  Place your order then go and pick up your dreams!”
The action doesn’t have to be drastic or difficult but without it you are simply daydreaming.  The formula is spelled out in the word and it is called the Law of Attraction for a reason.
Start taking action today!  Your dreams are waiting for you. Please drive through to the first window and pick up your order!
