4 Ways to Increase
Self Love Starting Now
from our Angel Messenger Creative Team
Do you feel like other people deserve love but you don’t? Maybe you think you have too many flaws and imperfections. Or, maybe you think you’ve made too many mistakes in the past to be loveable now.
It’s easy to be your own worst enemy, but your true purpose is to actually be your own biggest fan. This is why not loving yourself causes so much pain and suffering. So, how can you increase self-love and feel good about yourself again? Here are four, doable tips you can start doing today.
Fake It ‘Till You Make It
Now, that might seem like a strange tip, but it’s a good place to start. It’s hard to just flip the switch and start loving yourself. That’s because it can take a long time to change the negative beliefs you have about yourself. So, instead of waiting until your mind is 100% in love with you, fake it ‘till you make it. You don’t have to be perfect or do everything perfectly before you can start loving yourself.
Increase Self Love by Being Your Own Best Friend
You can act lovingly right now. If you’re low on self-love, your self-care routine is probably suffering, too. This can be anything from eating well, getting enough sleep, personal grooming, exercise, relaxing, etc. Self-care can also include buying a bouquet of flowers or enjoying your favorite latte.
Unfortunately, for many women, it’s easy to settle on low standards when it comes to taking care of yourself. But when it comes to your best friend, you probably raise the bar, right? If they visit, you prepare a nice meal and make sure the spare bedroom is comfortable and hospitable.
This is what you have to do for yourself. Treat yourself with love and kindness as if you were your best friend. Little by little, this will become the normal way to treat yourself.
Heal Negative Thought Patterns
What you believe deep inside leads you to act in certain ways. That’s why it’s so important to uncover any limiting beliefs that are holding you back. It takes patience and commitment, but it’s the best work you can do to increase self-love.
One way to increase self-love is by doing EFT, or Emotional Freedom Technique. In this method, you tap on eight different meridian points while saying a mantra like: “Even though I (your problem goes here), I deeply and completely love and accept myself.” By activating these tapping points, you release the past pain that’s trapped in the body. And by bringing this pain into the present moment, you can heal it with the help of these mantras.
This technique is highly effective and can free yourself to love again.
Practice Meditation and Affirmations
Once you release negative beliefs and feelings about yourself, it’s time to cultivate positive, loving thoughts instead.
An excellent place to start is with the healing experts, Deepak Chopra and Louise Hays. Chopra’s work includes many meditations that help you love and accept yourself for who you truly are. You are so much more than your job, relationships or life situation. Who you are, goes much, much deeper than society’s judgment and expectations. And that’s who you can learn to love.
Louise Hays is an amazing source for positive affirmations. Her affirmations gently teach your mind that you’re worthy of love, and that yes! You can actually love yourself.
Remember, all the love you need is already inside of you. You just might need a little help learning how to use this love for you. Use these four tips to welcome love back into your life.
